Amazon just announced price increases for their Prime membership plans. The updated pricing will apply to Prime sign-ups starting on February 18, 2022. This means that the yearly membership will increase from $119 to $139/year, and the monthly membership from $12.99 to $14.99/month.
For Prime Student members, the price of the monthly membership will increase from $6.49 to $7.49/month, and the price of the annual membership will increase from $59 to $69/year while qualifying EBT and government assistance recipients membership price will increase from $5.99 to $6.99/month.
Would you renew at this rate?
Note that for current Prime members, the new prices will apply after March 25, 2022, on the date of their next renewal.
How To Skip The Price Increase?
Fortunately, we found an awesome way to keep the same price for at least another year even after the increase! You need to be quick since you can only do it before February 18th. See steps below:
- Buy yourself an annual Prime Gift Membership
- Go to the Prime membership plans to disable auto-renew
- Click ‘Manage Membership’
- Click ‘End Membership’
(Opt to click on ‘Keep My Benefits’ to keep your Prime membership in effect until it expires) - Once your membership expires, just apply the Gift Membership to your account and get another full year of Prime for just $119!
Funny how awesome it is to read your deals but yet get pissed seeing this one ugh
Ack! I just renewed my membership last December.
I will cancel my auto membership.
I need to do this !!! We use ours so much, and my husband even thought that this was a good idea!!!
Where is the sign up for EBT and Government assistance recipients memberships sign up , I’ve been paying 12.99 this whole time and am on Government assistance, I don’t see this 5.99 option on my Amazon account…?
Hi Amanda! Here is the link where you can sign up: https://amzn.to/34SnDpl Thanks for the heads up. I’ll add that in. Hope you score yours!
THANK YOU so much for letting us know. I didnât buy the gift membership. I logged in and went to membership, clicked on Prime Plan and changed it to annual at $119/year. They are going to prorate and refund me what I have already paid for this month. My subscription renewed on the 6th.
I probably wonât renew the next time they increase the membership but you have to admit their customer service is excellent.
You’re so welcome, Theresa! Glad you managed to get the refund!
ok so is this gifting to yourself how will that work confused. I have to check when mine expires.
Google searcb how much Amazon & the founder Jeff Bezos, profits increased since the pandemic.
Bezo is 79.3% richer since the start of it, his personal wealth increased by $90.1 Billion US dollars (thats Billion with a âBâ).
But keep increasing the middle classes costs… we wonât be âmiddle classâ for much longer just wait.
Wow I wonder why these companies profits are increasing and they continue to have price increases. Seems like greed. Dollar tree and now Amazon but their employees pay seem to stay steadyđđżââïž
dang, maybe I can call lol
