Amazon just announced price increases for their Prime membership plans. The updated pricing will apply to Prime sign-ups starting on February 18, 2022. This means that the yearly membership will increase from $119 to $139/year, and the monthly membership from $12.99 to $14.99/month.
For Prime Student members, the price of the monthly membership will increase from $6.49 to $7.49/month, and the price of the annual membership will increase from $59 to $69/year whileĀ qualifying EBT and government assistance recipients membership price will increase from $5.99 to $6.99/month.
Would you renew at this rate?
Note that for current Prime members, the new prices will apply after March 25, 2022, on the date of their next renewal.
How To Skip The Price Increase?
Fortunately, we found an awesome way to keep the same price for at least another year even after the increase! You need to be quick since you can only do it before February 18th. See steps below:
- Buy yourself an annual Prime Gift Membership
- Go to the Prime membership plans to disable auto-renew
- Click ‘Manage Membership’
- Click ‘End Membership’
(Opt to click on ‘Keep My Benefits’ to keep your Prime membership in effect until it expires) - Once your membership expires, just apply the Gift Membership to your account and get another full year of Prime for just $119!
won’t let you get on web site
All of that is good advice. Thanks for the heads up. Of course I jave to renew but maybe I could dodge the increase for a short while
Thanks for this information
I want to try the gift membership idea but am wondering – will I lose my digital content purchases (tv shows and movies I bought on my account) if I let my membership end?
lucydabbles :: I wonder of the same issueā losing digital purchases if I cancel membership/auto renewal. Also, am I only allowed to buy ONE gift membership of $119 or I can purchase a certain quantity to apply & keep lower prime price every renewal year?
Iāve read that you can only buy one gift membership at a time. An Amazon rep told me you shouldnāt lose the digital content but I am still nervous. On forums I researched people say the digital content is separate from your membership and you only lose your content if you close your account. Was hoping to hear from someone who knows first hand to make feel feel 100%. Glad Iām not alone in wondering!
Thank you so much so much for your help
Not worth it for me. I do not have prime and my items come in a couple of days and I always buy more than $25 so shipping is free.
Thanks for the update. I donāt think you can do that with the EBT membership though. They verify it monthly.
Everything is increasing but, I love being a prime so, I will end up paying for it š¤·š½āāļø.
I was going to
Cancel this month. Now Iām thinking š¤ but I havenāt bought much recently. So leaning towards the cancel side more.
But , really ? An increase & this guy makes so much money .
Inflation sucks!
is it inflation or greed? the man went to space and cant get his yacht under a bridge…
agreed!
I would keep it bc the benefits are still worth it.
