After 35 years of holding the price of $1, Dollar Tree has raised the price of the majority of its products to $1.25!
Dollar Tree said that the slightly higher prices will give the them more flexibility to reintroduce many “customer favorites” that were previously discontinued because of the $1 price point and for them to introduce new products to its shelves.
The company said the higher price point is a permanent move, and not the result of “short-term or transitory market conditions”. It was also announced that the $1.25 price point will be rolled out to more than 2,00 Dollar Tree stores.
What are your thoughts about this? Let me know in the comments!
I can’t believe I will be telling my children “back in my day, this place was only a dollar!”
it’s ridiculous!!! the 25 cents actually makes a huge difference when you go buy so many items. I know that due to this increase, they permanently lost my business!. this is over morals. you cant vlaim to be a dollar store and charge more than a dollar. thats illegal and false advertising.
The price change has already taken effect at my store. I still go, but I don’t get as much of the unnecessary items like I used to.
I’m a bit disappointed because it was the only store I could go to and know everything would be $1 or less. I’m interested to see what products are so important to reintroduce that they made the decision.
I know right. I don’t feel as rich any more. Plus now I gotta be adding and crap 😂😂🤣🤣🤣they’ve taken the fun out of shopping there. #ididntcometodollarandaquartertodomath
I mean when you think about it at face value, $0.25 is not a lot. And I get it, this is business and lots have changed due to the pandemic. But that’s still also literally a 25% increase. And that’s a higher increase than any of us get from our employers. Every penny counts in my book!
I agree. A 25% increase is high. I don’t believe other companies have raised their prices that much. I guess I shouldn’t complain, I get my Chex mix there for 1.25 when it’s $3* everywhere else, but still. The cashiers say people complain about it everyday and those quarters do add up quick. It just doesn’t make sense to me to go there to get some things that are now cheaper elsewhere. I bought an energy drink there the other day that sells for $1 everywhere else (rip it) and paid $1.25 for it at the dollar store. Time for a name change
Exactly
I’m hoping that extra quarter goes to hiring more ppl at a fair wage. Every time I go into any Dollar Tree it’s horribly short staffed! One in my area is only open from 11-5 due to staffing!!
This makes me sad because as a college student a quarter makes a huge difference at chrckout. 😔😔
Seriously. I looked at my receipt l.
I’m like ok but just change the name then.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Literally just left there. Got cute Valentine’s Day and Easter decor. They have a pretty awesome craft section.
