After 35 years of holding the price of $1, Dollar Tree has raised the price of the majority of its products to $1.25!
Dollar Tree said that the slightly higher prices will give the them more flexibility to reintroduce many “customer favorites” that were previously discontinued because of the $1 price point and for them to introduce new products to its shelves.
The company said the higher price point is a permanent move, and not the result of “short-term or transitory market conditions”. It was also announced that the $1.25 price point will be rolled out to more than 2,00 Dollar Tree stores.
What are your thoughts about this? Let me know in the comments!
Now is a terrible time to raise prices on loyal customers. It’s not as if it won’t impact American families who are already struggling. Considering the majority of products are made in China it’s very close to being unpatriotic. New products? Puhleeze. When prices rise stockholders make more money which also finds its’ way into the pockets of upper management.
Boo $ Tree.
I agree with you 100%.
I now call them the ‘Buck and a Quarter Store’ 😂 My family aren’t impressed but it makes me smile.😎
To me it makes sense, especially because I have seen them bring out more stuff that would be considered high value at other places. The balloon letters that spell out happy birthday and stuff like that. Minimum wage has gone up (at least in California) so I don’t see this being an issue as far as the price going up, now people are making more to be able to pay for the increase. That’s how it’s always been, wages go up=prices go up everywhere.
I just hope they focus on paying their staff better because my brother worked there previously and it was pretty bad, unfortunately!
I don’t think that will happen
surprisingly they carry a bunch of gluten free items that otherwise are very expensive in regular supermarket stores, hope that doesn’t change regardless the price increase…
My local dollar store raised their prices to 1.25 in November and honestly I haven’t been back since. It’s kind of a steep increase and a lot of the items are not good quality or just plain not worth it. A lot of people that shop at the dollar tree are on a fixed income and the increase is really affecting them. I might still go for something here and there but probably not nearly as much as I used to.
0.25€ mark up doesn’t seem a lot too some folks but that’s just the start of inflation , food is already getting very expensive, so is gasoline. Minor jobs like McDonald’s are making more money than people who have bachelors degrees. It’s gonna get real bad. Y’all who voted for Biden really fcked up our country.
Not that I am a Biden supporter but this was in the works before Biden came to office, it just happened to go into effect during his presidency. They have not raised their prices since 1986. How do you expect them to stay in business? they had to do something.
Blame the head potato for all this.
this happened months ago in nyc. With the price increase they will bring better products if they haven’t brought it in your area already.
Should be called ” Buck 25.” 😂🤣
