After 35 years of holding the price of $1, Dollar Tree has raised the price of the majority of its products to $1.25!
Dollar Tree said that the slightly higher prices will give the them more flexibility to reintroduce many “customer favorites” that were previously discontinued because of the $1 price point and for them to introduce new products to its shelves.
The company said the higher price point is a permanent move, and not the result of “short-term or transitory market conditions”. It was also announced that the $1.25 price point will be rolled out to more than 2,00 Dollar Tree stores.
What are your thoughts about this? Let me know in the comments!
It’s okay for raising don’t mind it. But also they should be raising the employees at least to $8.25 now that it’s getting raised everything.
5 quarters by my house really don’t have anything good anyways
I say good for them, people love dollar stores and 25 cents seems doable.
wouldnt that make it the dollar twenty five tree? I mean it’s no longer a dollar right js
I will rarely shop there now. Many items, were barely worth a dollar but it was easier. For that price, I will just buy those products at other stores. They are raising the prices but the lines are still long and stores under staffed.
I go there for certain things because they are a dollar and the cheapest there. Obviously I wouldn’t go there if I could get it cheaper elsewhere. I do love their card selection and $1.25 for cards would still be a good deal, but that extra quarter will add up fast!
I was like really????? 😒 Since everything else is going up and we’re getting smaller quantity products, it didn’t surprise me that they went up too! However, I am very disappointed. I’ll still shop there but probably not buy as much. After all, most of us are looking for good quality at a bargain price aren’t we? I’ll be more mindful of what I buy from there now. I’ve heard ppl say it’s a good thing and that we will have better quality now that it’s $1.25. I think time can only tell but I’m still not happy about it.
the $1 price point was not a sustaining economic business model. They have not changed their price since opening in 1986. The average for business across the board is a raise of 5% an a annual basis. If they had done it that way, they would be almost $6. I understand that going from $1 to $1.25 was a big jump but in the bigger picture, they are still trying s
to keep the price low and also allow products back that they previously had to discontinue, as well as cater to the customer looking for a low price.
It’s just like any company, greed. The business made over $10 billion and seems yearly to make about 25% more than the prior year, they pay their employees terribly, overwork them (in states without strict break laws they don’t give them any (I worked 14 hour days without a break for months) and they are grossly understaffed. Best case scenario they are prepping for the national minimum wage increase to cover that but I highly doubt it’s for customer favorites and whatever else they are claiming.
I don’t like it! Gas and groceries have gone up and now this! I’m buying less now from there! Dollar tree did not have to raise it to $1.25. They need to change their name too bc it’s not Dollar anymore!
Unfortunately, with all the robberies of the Dollar stores in my area, they had to do something. So sad how this World has become.
