Is this free as in the bonus reward is cash back? If it’s just credit to spend in their store it isn’t *free*, even if it saves you the $17 you paid for batteries.

I tend to fall for this deal usually but lately I noticed that same batteries and quantity are 1/2 price on target, amazon, etc. then you must use the rewards or they expire usually on something I don’t really need or something I do but overpriced since Office Depot prices are almost as twice as regular stores.
I usually look for Tide, paper towels and toilet paper sales when Office Depot has them. I make sure their sale price is the same or less than Walmart’s (and it is). That way I feel better about buying their expensive batteries for that 100% rewards deal.
