• Favorite Things Friday: How to Twist Open Any Jar Lid Easily & Effortlessly

UPDATE: This Giveaway is now over! Winner announcement has been posted on my homepage. See more Giveaways being dropped on my blog here.

I don’t know about you, but opening a brand new jar of pickles or pasta sauce has always been a pain point for me. If my husband isn’t home and I can’t get it to open, then I usually have to put the jar back. No pickles for you!

I’ve tried different techniques and anecdotal hacks to opening a jar: tapping the jar lid with a spoon, running the lid under hot water, tapping the back of the jar violently hoping to break the vacuum seal, and of course, using brute force. Sometimes I’ll do everything, until the dang jar opens.  Usually it works. But sometimes it doesn’t. And I’m usually left in a sweaty mess after wrestling with a jar.

Life is too short to feel frustrated at the sight of a jar.

Enter Robo Twist! My relationship with all vacuum sealed jars has forever changed since I discovered the magical prowess of the Robo Twist. I didn’t think I could love a kitchen gadget as much as I do with this. It’s like having a boyfriend with you in the kitchen at all times, lending “his” strong arms with any jar that tickles your cravings. Big jars or little jars. Square jars or round jars! He can handle it all!

I’m embarrassed to admit that I did learn about it from an infomercial on TV late one night. And I was super skeptical (as one would with such commercials seen on TV). After some digging around, and despite some low star reviews, I ordered one on Amazon (it was cheaper than the TV offer and had free prime shipping).

The rest is history. Opening a jar now is a fun, effortless and satisfying experience that leaves me smiling… and sometimes jiggling at how easy it is. I used it last night, and it made me feel happy.

I made a quick 16-second video for ya when my “boyfriend” opened a jar of pasta sauce. You can watch it here. You can also see their TV commercial in the listing page on Amazon. I know these commercials can feel sleazy and over-promising. I feel the resistance to believe it too. But It really does work as easily as the commercial. Really.

It would also make an inexpensive and useful gift idea. Especially with the holidays just around the corner. Keep this in mind.  You can get it here.

Thanks Tina for the opportunity to win this magical gadget. As of now I have no gadget to share that I really enjoy. Maybe if I win this gadget I can share with the world that this is my favorite gadget. The struggle is real trying to open a jar and husband is at work or no where to be found. I normally get a knife and tap the lid still no luck. Oh well… Im messaging you from Winton, Ca

My daughter gave me some gel bleach. I simply squirted it on the caulking around my bath tub that wasn’t so clean and white anymore, it stayed there and voila, it is now clean and white again.

Some of my frustrations that I would love help with would be cleaning greasy pots and pans and scrubbing away mildew in the showers. I’m in Modesto, CA.

My tip is using a silverware holder (the kind that has dividers for placing knives, forks, spoons, etc.) in my top drawer by the kitchen sink. Instead of putting it in the drawer as you normally would, I place it sideways. Most holders are the same length (top to bottom) as the width of the drawer (in my case, the outside to outside measurement of my drawer is 14″ and the holder is a little over 13″). Now it rests on the top of the sides of the drawers and can slide back and forth. This way, I can also store items underneath the tray, increasing my usable space by 50%. You just have to make sure the holder is a little less in width than your drawer and has “lips” to rest on the sides. I see these often in thrift stores. I’m in Tidioute, PA – – a little slice of heaven.

Oh! I’ve seen this before. So it really works, huh? Well, I would love one since my arms are like noodles, lol!
My absolute fave gadget (if u can call it that) is my crock pot. Sometimes I won’t be able to make dinner after work, so I ju add t throw everything in my little “chef” and when i get home, wa-lah! Best investment I ever made. I love my crock pot so much, that ai bought a 3-in-1! It’s awesome for parties. I use it for nacho nights. Beans in 1, melted cheeze in another, and beef or chicken in the last one. See? Even when I entertain, my “chef” is by my side.
