This is my 6th year teaching. I love teaching because my TK students are going to be the future. If thereās one thing I want my students to learn from my class is to be kind, fair, and understanding to others. One story I have is when I taught 2nd grade. I was pregnant and announced it to my students through an activity and after, I had some questions. One student who was my most energetic, smart, but sassy student asked ācan the baby hear us?ā I said yesā¦ He was a complete different child after. He was very careful, cautious, and tried his hardest to be quiet. He showed he really cared about the baby. It was the sweetest & thoughtful gift a child could do for me.
I love helping my students find their voice and confidence. I love being a place where they feel safe and successful no matter how much assistance they need.
Also when I started my job in January I was told they no longer do photo IDs however, my school and teaching information is verified through ID.me, so I can happily provide that! (:
This year I have been working as a reading and math interventionist. However I just accepted a position for 3rd grade ELA for the upcoming school year at my current school. I am SO PUMPED! Literally my dream job. My absolute favorite part of teaching is when students begin to understand. For example, my students this year really struggled with multiplication. One of my students came in one morning and showed me the hard work she did over the weekend (which wasnāt even assigned to her!) and i could NOT have been more proud šš„¹. Tearing up as I write this and think about them. Building relationships and cracking jokes with my students is always the highlight of my day.
You just made my night! Thank you for your dedication and love for the children and math,
My best memory is finishing my internship and having the children make me a box of memories to keep for the rest of my career. This box is a beautiful reminder of my why in teaching!
Iām in my fifth year teaching middle school art & my favorite thing is building relationships with my students. I am so upset to let my eighth graders go this year. I love every one of my kids and counting down the days until summer has me less excited and more upset than previous years. It has not always been easy but this year has brought me so much peace with my position. I teach visual art and I am comfortable & confident to say this is where I am meant to be.
This is my 8th year of teaching, and as challenging as the profession is I wouldnāt change it one bit. Everyday is filled with laughter, love, learning, craziness, mayhem and everything in between. The kids constantly keep you on your toes and everyday is a new day with a new opportunity! I love being with my students and learning with them each day, weāve worked hard to build our classroom family and I am blessed to have met the students and parents that I have had over the years.
The āahaā moment. Realizing they were not the same student that walked into my classroom in August. Seeing the growth and the confidence pour through them makes my heart melt.
How can I not love shaping the future in Cosmetology. Not only do I teach them how to do cuts, color, permanents, formal hairstyling, braiding, nails, & skin care (& much more) but I also teach the chemistry that goes behind every single service as well as life skills, professionalism, networking, team playing, business management, customer service and how do build their own brand! The best moments are watching my students completely transform from a frightened soul into a confident well rounded professional ready to take on anything! When they realize their hidden talents, itās priceless and Iām blessed to be part of that journey!
Iām an instructional assistant at Waldo Middle School and I work in the newcomer program helping new to the country students transition into our new American school life.
