This is my 6th year in the school system I started as Additional adult assistant this is my second year being a Paraprofessional. I love working with the students on something that they thought was super hard and they didnât think they would get. Then their face and how excited they are when they finally get it everything else is worth just that moment.
I love knowing Iâm making a difference in the world by teaching kids to grow up and for them to make a difference. Educating has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid. Giving kids a chance to learn is such a great feeling. Even at the end of the day when some of my students come up to me and say, âThanks for a great day.â, âYour my favorite teacher.â, âHave a good night!â It just makes me know that I was chosen for my Job.
I am finishing up my 14th year teaching band. I absolutely LOVE my job! Itâs so much more than teaching kids to play an instrumentâŠI get to watch them grow for several years as musicians and as individuals. I love watching them succeed in and out of my roomâŠon the stage, on the soccer field, robotics, in their math class, etc. I just love doing life with them and helping them discover and develop their God-given gifts! â€ïž đ¶
I love creating a safe, positive environment where my 3rd grade students feel cared for and loved. Their social emotional learning is just as important as their academics (if not more) and I love teaching them how to be good, KIND citizens. They are our future!
I have been tracking since 2006. I teach mostly 8th grade but have taught 7th as well. Being an 8th grade science teacher can be a struggle because 13 year old are more concerned with the latest bad bunny video to care about what I have to say. Despite the struggle I wouldnât change it for the world. The pay isnât the best but seeing the smile on those kids faces daily brightens my day. This year was a tough one for us because due to COVID-19 our students are lacking in the science skills they need for the state test. At times I would see my students faces and I could tell they were overwhelmed. I learned to listen to their facial expressions not just their words. A student of mine was being defiant and showing up tardy and giving me the death stare when I would correct her or call her attention for talking in class while I was lecturing. I figured I wasnât her cup of tea and Science wasnât her subject. Rather than dismiss her as someone who will fail the STAAR test I decided to really delve in and find out what was bothering her. I kept motivating her and praising her small victories and I started to notice her demeanor change. She was answering questions, coming to tutorials. This past week I messaged her mother about how proud I was of her accomplishments so far and her mom shared that this bright a tear to her eye. In fact, she even wrote about me being her favorite teacher because I have taught her to push her limits and believe in herself . đ 17 years later and I finally feel validated as a teacher.
As a teacher I love it when i help a student make that connection. Seeing their eyes light up when they have that âAha!â moment is priceless!
I love teaching because I loving seeing the growth in a student, no matter how small the development in a chid itâs great to see the progress they make especially in pre-K they are small sponges I always seem to forget how young they are because they are so curious and eager to learn everything
There is no feeling as wonderful as being the one to teach a young child to read. All I can think when the words flow is âI did that.â
I love teaching high school freshman Algebra I because I get to transition them into high school and set a good foundation for their future. I love watching them grow into their teenage selves.
As a special Ed teacher for the past 10 years, I love seeing the growth in my students! This year I started with 2 non readers in 3rd grade and now hearing them read and seeing the progress literally brings tears to my eyes! It’s a challenge esp at times but so rewarding and I can’t see myself doing anything else! To my fellow teachers you are ALL amazing and thank you Tina and FSF for recognizing and celebrating us!!
