1. Sign up for Beauty Insider and Get FREE Birthday Gift
Sephora Beauty Insider is their free loyalty program. You earn points for every purchase you spend and unlock special rewards depending upon your spending. Base members still get a free gift on their birthday. The benefits only go up from there! Learn more about the Beauty Insider program now.
2. Spend your Beauty Insider points in-store
If you shop Sephora online, you have to buy something in order to redeem your Beauty Insider points for a free item. But if you head into your local Sephora you can redeem them with no purchase required. Note that you can also earn and redeem your points at Sephora at Kohl’s and JCPenney.
3. Samples for DAYS
Seriously, Sephora is like the sample god. If you shop online, you can get 3 free samples with every order. If you shop in-store, you can get 3 free samples from each department:makeup, skincare and fragrance. You choose whatever you want to sample. Just ask an employee and they’ll get it for you. Plus, they also offer a lot of freebies with different thresholds.
4. Bookmark the Beauty Deals
Sephora’s Beauty Deals page has all of their current deals and coupon codes available to use. Make sure you bookmark the Beauty Deals page and check it before placing any online orders. Chances are, there’s a coupon code you can use.
5. Hello, price adjustments
If something goes on sale for cheaper within two weeks after you purchased it, bring in your receipt to get a price adjustment. (Check out more stores’ price adjustment policies here).
6. Return pretty much anything, anytime
Decide you don’t like something? You can return any item at any time, even if it’s already been used. Don’t have your receipt anymore? No problem; you’ll just get store credit instead of a cash refund. (Check out more stores’ return policies here).
7. Free Shipping
If you want to shop a lot online, make sure to become a Beauty Insider member. It’s FREE to join and it comes with FREE shipping with no minimum! Now I don’t know about you, but paying for shipping is kind of a pet peeve of mine 🤪 So getting free shipping with no minimum at no additional cost puts Sephora at the very top of my favorite stores.
8. Go for Value Sets
Value Sets and palettes are the easiest way to get more for your money because they offer several beauty items in one pack. The retail value of the items is always more than the price of the set itself. For example, this Sephora Starter Brush Value Set is a $89 value, and selling for only $49! Or this Essential Eye Makeup Brush Set – selling for $29 while valued at $80!
9. Price it out by the ounce
Couponers are conditioned to find the cheapest out-of-pocket price there is, period. And usually that’s the best rule to follow. But when it comes to high end makeup and hair/skincare products, comparing price-per-ounce is going to be a better way to go. Generally speaking, the larger bottle of a product will be cheaper than the smallest one you can purchase when you look at the prices by the ounce.
10. Wait for the Semi-Annual Sales
Typically there’s a store-wide sale in April and then again in late October/early November for Beauty Insiders. Items are usually 10-20% off, which doesn’t seem like that big of a discount. But if you save your points, shop Value Sets and spend wisely, you can actually end up getting some fantastic deals.
11. Perfume Samplers are worth it
Perfume Samplers are a great deal. They are discounted just like Value Sets and many of them contain a certificate inside good for a free full-sized bottle of perfume. That alone makes it worth the cost.
12. Pay attention to the sale section
Sephora’s Last Chance Sale section is kind of a mixed bag. Sometimes it’s full of weird makeup like green lipstick or orangey blush… sometimes, though, you can comb through and find some truly amazing deals. Make sure you pay attention to the Last Chance section when you’re shopping to see what you can find.
13. Use discounted gift cards
Check sites like Raise for discounted Sephora gift cards. They sell gift cards that people are trying to get rid of for less than they are worth. If you can score a $50 Sephora gift card for $45, that’s an easy $5 you’re saving. Plus, new Raise members get a FREE $5 credit good off their first order when they sign up with this link.
