Did you know that Costco price tags have secret codes behind them? Furthermore, their price tags can contain indicators that can let you know if the product will be restocked! We have seven secrets about Costco prices listed, so next time you visit your local store, pay attention to the price tags for each item. This will help you understand if the item is a special price, a markdown, or a regular price.
✨ Costco Price Tags Ending in .99
You will notice that most of the prices end in .99. This simply means that it is a regular price and this product isn’t on sale at all.
✨Costco Price Tags Ending in .97
On the other hand, prices ending in .97 are the ones that have been marked down! Those items are on sale and are usually clearance items.
✨Costco Price Tags Ending in .39, .49, .69
Costco price tags that end in numbers like .39, .49, .69, or similar numbers are most often special deals by manufacturers. These may also be certain products that manufacturers are testing and offering them at lower prices than usual.
✨Costco Price Tags Ending in .00 or .88
These prices we call Manager’s Specials. These are markdowns, and probably the lowest price that you will see for this item at Costco! Note that these can also be items people returned, or that have damage on the box or similar.
✨30-Day Refund at Costco
This one you may already know, but if you purchase an item here and it goes on sale, you can request a refund! You have 30 days from the date of your original purchase to request a price adjustment.
✨Death Star Sign at Costco
Interesting name – if you see an asterisk * sign on the price tag, usually placed in the right top corner. It means this item will not be reordered at that store, or it won’t restock at all! If you see this sign on the item you want, you should know that it may be your last chance to get it!
✨Date In The Corner Not the Expiration Date
Don’t look at those dates in the corner! Those dates are not expiration dates for the offers and prices. It just means that’s the tag’s print date and you can totally ignore it.
The real expiration date will almost always appear in the middle of the price tag and it will say EXP, so you can know that the offer will be valid until that day. See the image below!
