Here’s something important to check on next time you open your fridge – Egg Beaters just issued a major recall. Over 212,000 pounds of their liquid egg products might have been contaminated with sodium hypochlorite, which is the active ingredient in bleach.
Don’t panic – no health issues have been reported, but the USDA is playing it safe. If you or someone you love has eaten any of these recently and feels off, it’s always a good idea to get checked out.
Here’s what to look for: cartons with G1804 printed on them and “use by” dates of 8/9/25, 8/10/25, or 3/7/26. They were mainlly sent to food services in Ohio and Texas, but they could be in kitchens across several states or even nationwide.
Brands affected include:
- Egg Beaters Original Liquid Egg Substitute
- Egg Beaters Cage-Free (Liquid & Frozen)
- Bob Evans Better’n Eggs Made w/ Real Egg Whites Liquid Egg Substitute (32oz)
If you’ve got one, toss it or return it to the store. For help or more info, you can call 1-844-419-1574 or check the FSIS website.
