Restaurants Closing in 2025: Denny’s, Red Robin, TGI Fridays

For the past months, we have been updating you about store closures this 2025 as well as last year and now, we have the list of the restaurants that are closing select locations. There are currently four restaurants that will be closing some of their locations – On The Border, Denny’s, Red Robin, and TGI Fridays.

Restaurants Closing in 2025

On The Border Closes 77 Locations

Last March 5th, On the Border filed for bankruptcy due to many reasons including inflation and labor shortages. With this, they are closing or have closed 77 locations (with a reported 40 of them in February). As per their website, they have already closed 66 locations across states.

Denny’s to Close More Locations

Denny’s has closed 88 locations last year and they are planning to add another 70 to 90 this year. The reason for this closures is their buildings are too old for remodeling or they aren’t turning a profit. If you love dining at Denny’s, there are still over 1,300 locations in the U.S. and they will be opening 20 new locations this year.

Red Robin Closing 70 Locations

Red Robin is planning to get their sales back on track and a part of it is closing 70 locations over the next five years – with 10 to 15 this year.

TGI Fridays Closed 30 Locations

You might have noticed a few TGI Fridays restaurant closures at the start of this year. They have shuttered 30 restaurants across New Hampshire, New York, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Ohio locations last January. Last year, 100 locations were closed and it is still not sure if they will be closing more this year.

Restaurant Closures in 2024:

These restaurant closures started last year and there are no confirmed information yet if they will be closing more this year.  Common reasons of these restaurant closures were underperformance and bankruptcy. Here’s the list of restaurants that closed last 2024:

• Dickey’s Barbecue Pit – 97 locations
• KFC – 25 locations
• Hooters – 40 locations
• Outback Steakhouse – 41 locations
• Red Lobster – 40 locations
• Rubio’s Coastal Grill – 48 locations
• Wendy’s – 140 locations
