Target shoppers, take note: their price match policy has changed for 2024! While the year-round price match is still in place, there are key updates to be aware of, especially if you love finding the best deals. Here’s what’s new and how to use the updated policy.
Who Does Target Price Match?
For 2024, Target has simplified its list of price-match competitors to just two retailers: Amazon and Walmart. This is a big change from their previous policy, which accepted price matches from up to 29 different competitors. If you find a lower price at either Amazon or Walmart, Target will match it – just make sure the item meets their criteria.
How to Request a Price Match
Requesting a price match is simple and can be done either during your purchase or within 14 days after purchase. Here’s what you need to do:
- In-Store: Show proof of the lower price at Guest Services.
- Online: Contact Target’s Guest Services at 1-800-591-3869.
The item must be identical in every way (brand, size, color, model, etc.), and the lower price must be available and in stock at the time of the request.
Price Matching at Target Online & Through Target Circle
You can also request a price match if the price is lower on Target online or available through a Target Circle deal (f you’re a member – it’s free to join!). Just make sure to show proof of your membership when requesting a match on Target Circle offers.
Exclusions to Target’s Price Match Policy
Certain items and offers are excluded from Target’s price match policy. These includes:
- Clearance, liquidation, closeout, damaged, refurbished, or pre-owned items
- Deals that require a minimum purchase, competitor coupons, or promo codes
- “Marketplace” listings from third-party vendors
- Alcohol purchased online, contract phones, or pre-orders
- Clinic or pharmacy orders
- The membership price of Target 360
- Target Circle bonuses
- Registry coupons
- Target Plus Partner items on Target online or app
- Target Circle deal prices cannot be combined with competitor prices
Taget does not offer rain checks on items sold out at a competitor, but they will issue a rain check for in-store sale prices at your specific Target location, valid for 30-45 days depending on your state. Check out the full list of exclusions here.
Does Target Price Match Groceries?
Yes! Target does price match groceries, but as with other items, they need to to match identically – including brand name, size, weight, and quantity. This applies to produce and other grocery items, so make sure the competitor’s price and product details align exactly before requesting a match.
